Hsu, Yen-Pu: Thousands of Commemorating Medals Will be Issued to Pay Tribute to Martyrs (January 13, 2016)

  Assistant head of the ministry's personnel department Major General Hsu, Yen-Pu announced “Commemorating Medals” in the regular press conference; he indicated that thousands of medals will be issued to pay tribute to predecessor.

  Hsu, Yen-Pu said that according to the current statistics, since 1949, more than 6,400 soldiers died due to defending Taiwan, and about 5,600 soldiers were injured. The number of meritorious personnel is to be clarified.

  Hsu, Yen-Pu further indicated that the statistics did not include US soldiers. According to the data provided by the US, about 126 soldiers were killed and missing. In the future, the military will ask American Institute in Taiwan to continuously check the number to facilitate the subsequent conferral of medals.
